On a press line, one machine may have oil beneath its guard while the neighbouring unit stays live. The first brief needs the machine reference, the person releasing it and a safe place for recovered swarf; the remaining detail can be confirmed beside the equipment.
Scope each machine and the surrounding area separately
A press with exposed oil, a packaging machine with sensors and a CNC enclosure holding swarf do not share one cleaning method. Your maintenance team records whether each machine can be washed, needs dry recovery or must first be opened by the site’s fitters. Component limits for each machine
The maintenance contact records who applies isolation and lock-off, which panels or guards they will remove and which components must remain dry or untouched.
Approved products, component restrictions and the person returning guards or panels are agreed against the individual machine, not copied from another item on the line.
If fitters remove one guard only after a bearing check, cleaning cannot begin there at the general line-stop time. The maintenance contact marks that dependency on the machine task so the crew starts elsewhere instead of waiting beside closed equipment.
Before work starts, engineers mark electrical enclosures, controls and sensors that must be covered or excluded. The contractor follows those limits and changes tools or products where a component or finish requires a different approach.
Before guards go back, maintenance can see the cleaned surfaces and any point that remained inaccessible. Its own technical restart checks remain a separate job.
Cleaning can expose wear that grime was hiding. Send the machine list and site postcode for a quotation; the cleaning company records maintenance findings separately from the surfaces it cleaned.

Oil, swarf, carbon and process deposits may require different tools on painted covers, stainless surfaces, seals and electrical enclosures. The cleaning company chooses a method from the deposit and component limits, then tests a small area where the reaction is uncertain.
Site engineers control machinery isolation, identify components that must stay dry or untouched and carry out the technical checks required before equipment returns to use.
Surfaces behind guards or panels are included only when the maintenance team releases them. A closed guard leaves the quoting company able to price only the surfaces it can reach.
Swarf, sludge and washings need a stated recovery container and onward route. They must not be moved into drains or adjacent equipment.
