We ask for that definition before pricing because it controls method, time and completion checks. It also prevents old staining or damage being mistaken for failed cleaning.
Describe the dirt that must be removed
A useful standard might require exposed surfaces to be free from a named loose deposit, or an agreed plant area to be ready for inspection. Surfaces, stains and exclusions
- The surfaces and locations included in the check.
- The build-up, stain or condition the clean is addressing.
- Known stains, damage and inaccessible areas.
- The site representative who will inspect the finished area.
Make the finished condition easy to check
For a press base awaiting maintenance, the finish might be no loose swarf or pooled oil on the marked panels and floor edge. A trial patch shows whether dark marks are removable grime or permanent staining before the rest is priced.
Photograph the accepted trial area in the agreed lighting. At handover, the nominated site contact compares the same surfaces and records inaccessible points, worn coating and staining separately from removable residue.
Do not wait until the handover to reveal an unstated expectation. Put it into the quotation stage, while the method and work included can still change. Ask us to survey and define the clean if your current wording is too open to interpretation.
Record what remains after cleaning
- A visual standard works only when the surfaces, lighting, viewing points and acceptable remaining marks are named.
- The site or applicable specification supplies the acceptance standard; the quotation explains how the cleaning task connects to that check.
- If a trial area misses the expected finish, review the method, surface condition and expectation before committing the rest of the project.
