High-Level Access Planning

A six-metre beam can still be unreachable when pipework blocks the approach or a machine fills the floor below. High-level access planning checks the route and working angle as well as the height.

A beam above a fixed conveyor may be only six metres high yet unreachable from the useful side. The cleaning company must check the route from the unloading door, the standing space beside the conveyor and the work angle before choosing access equipment.

Survey the work face, approach route and floor below

Plans and safe photographs should identify each beam, service or ledge and the obstruction beneath it. The cleaning company then checks equipment standing space, movement through doors and whether the floor below can close. Our high-level industrial cleaning service combines that access plan with dust containment and recovery.

Height, obstacles and floor conditions

Record floor condition, usable equipment positions and fragile structures or services near the cleaning face.

Add live product, plant or people beneath the task and the intended method for recovering loosened material.

Test whether the planned access can reach the surface

Measurements cover the cleaning face, obstruction and working angle as well as height. A single floor-to-roof figure cannot show whether a platform, tower or other planned method can actually reach the surface.

The approach route is checked from unloading point to set-up position, including loading, door widths and obstructions. Exclusion and containment are then designed around people, plant and product that remain below.

The completion check is agreed while access is still being planned. It may use a safe viewpoint or photographs where site rules permit, but it should not rely on details that cannot be seen from the floor.

When a route depends on preparation by another contractor, put that action in the schedule. If the equipment cannot reach the work face through the available doors and floor space, the access plan needs to change before the job is booked. Arrange a high-level access survey and include any building or racking plans available.

Questions that decide whether the surface is reachable

Can the equipment pass through the available doors? Where can it stand without overloading or obstructing the floor? What blocks the working angle, and can the area below close? Those answers are considered with the dust-control method described under high-level industrial cleaning.

Difficult access cleaning covers other obstructions around fixed plant and structures.
